See you later, Utah. I'll miss you!

I still can't believe how hard it was to let go of my mom, get in my car, and drive away. I thought the hardest part about moving was going to be me saying goodbye to my cat -- as hard as that was, walking away from my sister and mom was much harder. The funny part was that I waited to leave thirty minutes after I had planned on leaving because I had a phone interview scheduled at 2:30. The company did not call at 2:30. Instead they called at 3:30. What happened you ask? I forgot that Arizona was an hour behind Salt Lake. But guess what? Even after me pointing out their error that ended up being my error I still have a second interview :) Wish me luck -- I need a job!

Now for the road trip. It started out great, just like driving to Provo. Except -- we passed Provo. Then it was just like driving to Ceder City, but we turned off the road before then. Then it felt like uncharted territory. We (Jessie and I) learned that when a car is driving toward you in your lane...hit your brakes FAST. It's a good thing we learned it the first time too. We got to play leap frog with some semi trucks. We learned that you can STILL get pulled over on private land, we learned that one the easy way too. We discovered that Arizona does not require you to have a front license plate. We now understand why window reflectors and steering wheel covers are so important. I re-learned to watch where I am going...especially at night in the middle of a forest. We got to see a deer, or two, or three. One on the road, one running across the road, and one 5-point buck waiting patiently on the side of the road. All in the pitch black of night. Here are some pictures of the SUPER EXCITING drive.

If you look close enough you can see our shadows.

This was the view on both sides...

Part of the drive was gorgeous. Most of it was blah.

Now for the rest of the last two days. Movie theaters? Over-priced and small. I am used to Megaplex's HUGE theaters. The theaters in Arizona are tiny in comparison and cost more. The heat is ridiculous -- chapped lips and on the way to dehydration in 48 hours. Ick. Safeway is the grocery store. No Harmon's or Smith's. Alcohol is readily available. Air conditioning is a MUST. Outdoor malls in Arizona make NO sense to me. I'm excited for the new experiences I'll have here but I miss my family, my friends, my cat, and being able to go somewhere without relying on a GPS.

Stay tuned for more posts about my life in Sunny Arizona.
